New Singer Adam Methven
“Beefy, brooding shot of hard rock, with that Shinedown-meets-Alter Bridge” (Classic Rock Magazine)
British hard rockers The Fallen State announce new music, accompanied by a new video and a new singer!
The band that brought us ‘Nova’, ‘For My Sorrow’ and ’American Made’ very recently announced the departure of former singer Ben Stenning after 7 years with the band.
Stenning is replaced by former ‘The Addiction’ frontman Adam Methven, who with Dan Oke, Jon Price, Greg Butler and Rich Walker, release The Fallen State’s first single in 2 years. ‘Knives’ demonstrating an exciting new chapter for the band, is released on January 22nd, 2021 accompanied by a frantic and energetic video for the song.
You could be forgiven for thinking that amidst a global pandemic, and being tasked with searching for a new singer, The Fallen State had done very little in the way of exercising the creative. ‘Knives’ is here to tell you otherwise
‘Knives’ is the perfect example of a band undeterred by anything that might be thrown at them, as the lyrics suggest.
Musically, ‘Knives’ blends heavy and melodic guitars, relentless power from the rhythm section and topped with dark, aggressive vocals, to sonically match the lyrical content of the first song of a new era for The Fallen State.
New vocalist Adam says, ‘The song is a summation of what I think we all felt when we got together and vented our frustrations. 2020 could have been a year that I think all of us could’ve walked away from the business altogether. However, this track is saying, do you know what, no, throw whatever you’ve got at us, bring it on, we’re ready to deal with anything that comes our way’.
It’s a testimony to the band’s killer combo of passion and craft to which The Fallen State has developed an impressive reputation, with their stylish take on the musical legacies of both sides of the Atlantic. They’ve already released five EPs, and more recently a full-length album ‘A Deadset Endeavour’ in 2019. They’ve also achieved numerous video and radio airplay on KerrangTV, Planet Rock Radio and the BBC.
As passionate performers, they live for the live show and sell out shows with their modern, incisive, inspiring performances. In Addition to three UK headline tours, the band has also toured across the UK and Europe with Black Stone Cherry, 3 Doors Down and US Grammy winners Halestorm; not to mention artists such as Tremonti and Pop Evil.
Bass player Greg Butler expressed his excitement for the future of The Fallen State; “it’s been a difficult 12 or so months for everyone, however we believe we have found the right ingredients to move this band forward into the future. Ben was a huge part of our journey, but there is certainly an element of excitement for the new music we have to show the world and our forthcoming shows. We can’t wait for you to meet Adam!”
