When people don’t feel that they have an identity of their own, they often start taking on the personalities of those around them. Salt The Earth is about someone going so far into taking on others’ personalities that they become a carbon copy of them, and no longer know who they are. They have no identity that they can call their own and they can never return home to themselves.
Talking of the video, Iman states: “I feel that the metal world is filled with too much seriousness. Whereas the subject matter of the song is serious, I wanted to create some ridiculous visuals to go alongside it. I had a storyboard in my head and prepped with all the costumes/props and trekked it from London to Dartford where it was filmed.
“We filmed the whole thing over 3 days and all the gym scenes were shot after hours until 4am with lots of bemused and confused looks from the late night gym goers. The other location shots also attracted the same amount of bemusement and confusion.
“It was great fun being idiots for 3 days!”
