At The End Of The World is the first single to be taken from HCK9’s upcoming EP Background Music For The End Of The World, which promises to bring the tunes we will want to be listening to as the bombs start dropping.
Speaking about the video, James Brown states: “At The End Of The World is part 1 (the prologue) of our 3 part trilogy. Meet our resilient protagonist, the sole survivor in a world stripped of humanity. After years of survival her days have blurred into one and life has become tiresome and monotonous. Her last vestige of hope is the radar that sits gathering dust on her desk, scouring the stars above for any signs of life.
“Will she endure her solitude long enough to find what she’s looking for, or will the void consume her?”
At The End Of The World is available on all streaming platforms now.
HCK9 aka Half Cut K9 are an electronic alt-rock project written and fronted by northerner James Brown. HCK9 create their own blend of electronic and alternative genres, weaving them together to create a cinematic, sci fi experience with an enraged emo twist. Inspiration can be found from the likes of Placebo, Nine Inch Nails and Twenty One Pilots. While these “for fans of” references may apply, HCK9 execute everything in their very own special style, inspired by the toxically dystopian nature of our lives. The veracious lyrics and electrifying vocals are cleverly combined with a heavy yet modern production that will either make you want to save the world or end it.
HCK9 have previously earned Radio airplay from BBC Radio 1, Radio X, Amazing Radio and others and DSP support including Spotify “All New Rock” and “not just a phase”, Apple Music “New In Rock” and Amazon Music “Breakthrough Rock”, “Fresh Rock”, “Best New Bands” and “Brand New Music”. They also gained sync with ITV’s ‘Love Island’, BBC’s ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ and the ‘Beatstar’ mobile game app.
The band have also featured at 2022’s Madcool Festival and 2023’s The Great Escape as well as securing multiple support slots.
