No place For The Damned is the latest release from Glasgow based band Tantrum , a band I have followed since pretty much their inception many years ago, but this latest offering is sure to take this band to the next level of metal!
This new album gives metal fans exactly what they have been craving musically, with the traditional Maiden-esque ‘twin guitar’ sound coupled with a very tight rhythm section and a singer whose vocal range will give you goosebumps and make you sweat.
The 11 songs on this album are a masterclass of storytelling, and with each track being around the five or five-minute plus mark, the listener can immerse themselves in the full aural experience as they are taken on this journey.
This album is ‘all killer no filler’ with each of the eleven tracks earning the right to be included on this album and I fully believe it’s an album that will leave the hairs on the back of your neck standing on end.
I personally have followed this band for many years… well, since its inception and have witnessed many lineup changes throughout the years, but can categorically state that this recent reincarnation is by far the best yet. Tantrum is a band who strive to bring out the best in themselves both musically and creatively as well as really enjoying the music that they are making.
This latest change in early 2024 now showcases this band as how they should be seen and this is a force to be reckoned with in the world of heavy metal. For me personally they are now ‘way up there’ with their peers of Priest, Saxon and Maiden and are breathing much needed life into the metal genre.
If you only take a chance on one album this year then make sure its No Place For The Damned and I can personally guarantee that you will find several earworms within likes of Manifest Destiny, W.A.I.L. Hellbound Planet and The judge. This is an album I would class as being ‘up there’ with the greats of heavy metal and definitely one I will be purchasing for my collection.
