This album is a lot of fun, which is typical of glam rockers StOp,sToP!
Opening track Hasta Luego! (See You Later) does the opposite by inviting you in now to their sixth album. Followed by eight more tracks, most of which are full of subtle and mostly not so subtle innuendo.
Dicktator contains lyrics like ‘naughty words’ and ‘come to play’ which I doubt it’s about telling off kids at the local softball playpen!
The first single Fire, Fire! has laugh out loud lyrics ‘grab my burning log’ which again I doubt is about Christmas cakes. It’s fun, it’s fast, it’s amusing, and as a single works well as a lead into the album.
The title track Tangled is so fast that I can just envisage a mosh pit going mad to this. This is a workout and a half!
My favourite track is Real Friends, sung as a duet with a female friend of the band. This is something new StOp,sToP! are trying, and I think matching female vocals with Jacob’s raspy voice works really well. It’s about exactly what the title says, knowing who your real friends are, and who you can/can’t trust.
Closing track MTV has great lines like ‘grandpa soaked in jack’, and to be honest I’m not entirely sure what it’s about, or if ‘let me be on MTV’ is a request or a dare!!
This band is known for their brilliant live performances, for following their own rules, and this album is going to expand that reputation. I can’t wait to see them.
